Traffic Light Control Cabinet (Control Unit)
Traffic Light Control Cabinet (Control Unit)
1. Traffic Light Control Cabinet (Control Unit)
1.1 General Characteristics and Capabilities
1.1.1 The controller must be a 16-bit microprocessor chip type controller
1.1.2 It must operate effectively outdoors in all weather conditions of Thailand, or within the temperature range of -15℃ to 70℃.
1.1.3 The sequence of traffic lights must follow the order below
1.1.4.1 For vehicles (green-yellow-red)
- Red - > Green - > Yellow - > Red
Supplementary lights (left or right turn arrows)
- Flashing green arrow --> Off
1.1.4.2 For pedestrians (red standing and green walking)
: Red standing - > Green walking - > Flashing green walking - > Red standing
1.1.4.3 Can be set to flashing signal mode or malfunctionflashing signal mode
: Main direction: flashing yellow
: Secondary direction: flashing red
1.1.4 Operates at a voltage range of 220V ±10% and afrequency of 50Hz ±4%. It has a system that cuts off control operations whenvoltage drops, exceeds limits, or is inconsistent beyond the control system’scapacity, and will automatically resume normal operation when conditionsstabilize.
1.1.5 The control of signal lights turning on and offmust be a Solid State Switch type.
1.1.6 Equipped with surgeprotection circuits due to lightning (Surge Protection) on both the Main Inputand Output sides, with a capacity of at least 10KA.
1.1.7 Must be able to preventleakage currents.
1.1.8 The controller must have a lamp monitoring systemto detect faults in the signal lights, such as short circuits, to preventtraffic light errors.
1.1.9 Includes a watchdogsystem to detect microprocessor processing errors.
1.1.10 The cycle time forintersections can be set within a range of 30-240 seconds and for pedestriancrossings within 30-120 seconds, adjustable as needed.
1.1.11 Includes conflictmonitoring to prevent simultaneous signaling of different phases.
1.1.12 Allows programming while still controlling signalsnormally.
1.1.13 Supports connection to an API (ApplicationProgramming Interface).
1.1.15 Can communicate with a computer system, incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) to assist in control operations suchas monitoring, recording, editing, or transferring control system time data(Stage, Phase, Offset, Cycle Time, Plan Time) and controller malfunctions.
1.1.16 Can synchronize trafficlight control between intersections, designating one controller as the master, controlled centrally.
1.2 Design of Stages andPhases
1.2.1 The intersectioncontroller can manage up to 8 PHASES, 8 STAGES, and can expand to 24 PHASES.
1.2.2 It includes control timing for each STAGE asfollows
1.3 Detectors
1.3.1 Supports theinstallation of additional detectors or connection of signals from addeddetectors to the controller.
1.3.2 Detectors can be installed within the controlcabinet and used in intersection or pedestrian signal control systems to callor extend the green light time for each STAGE
1.3.3 Can receive information from detectors or signalsfrom up to 24 channels.
1.3.4 Detectors can adjustsensitivity to detect the movement of vehicles from small bicycles to buses, trucks, and trailers without errors in counting.
1.4 The controller supports various operational modes, including
1.4.2 MANUAL CONTROL
1.4.2.1. Can be manually controlled using a specific controlpanel with a separate lockable cover.
1.4.2.2. The control panel includes buttons for systemcontrol with indicator lamps, organized as follows: SIGNAL LAMP ON/OFF SWITCH, FLASHING SWITCH, ALL RED SWITCH, MANUAL CONTROL SWITCH / B STAGES SELECTED KEY, AUTO SWITCH, ACTUATED SWITCH
1.4.2.3. The MANUAL CONTROLSWITCH allows selection of any STAGE without sequence.
1.4.3.Can be controlled bypre-set time schedules, regulating signal timing according to specifiedperiods.
1.5 Characteristics of the Control Cabinet
1.5.1 The cabinet shell is made of specially designedaluminum, coated in gray, durable and strong throughout its lifespan.
1.5.2 All metal parts insidethe cabinet are non-rust or have been treated for rust prevention.
1.5.3 It has a lockable doorfor easy maintenance.
1.5.4 Includes a compartmentfor the control panel with control switches. and indicator lamps, with alockable cover on one side of the cabinet.
1.5.5 The cabinet shellprovides protection against dust, rain, humidity, and heat according to IECstandard IP54.
1.5.6 The controller has test reports meeting TIS 902 orIEC 60598-2-3 standards.
